Is Fomo Legit? Is the Fomo App Safe? (2026 Check)

By Ellis Vandermeer · Published 4 September 2026 · Last verified 5 September 2026

Short answer: Fomo is legit as a company: FOMO Labs, Inc., founded 2025, about 94 million USD raised, 600,000+ users, self-custodial accounts. It is not safe as an activity: memecoins, mark-to-market leaderboards and a badge that does not vet tokens all lose people money.

What are the short answers on whether Fomo is legit?

Short answers to the questions this page checks. Nothing here is new: every figure appears again, with its source and its evidence label, in the section it comes from.

Which legitimacy questions does this page answer?

Is the Fomo app legit?Yes as a company: FOMO Labs, Inc., founded 2025, about 94 million USD raised, 600,000+ users, 4 billion USD cumulative volume.
Is Fomo a scam? No. The scam risk is in tokens and traders, not in the company taking your deposit.
Does Fomo hold my crypto?Third-party reviews say no: self-custodial smart accounts with email or Apple login and no seed phrase. We report that rather than assert it.
Does the verified badge mean a token is safe? No. It is informational and scam tokens have carried it.

Is Fomo available in my country?Everywhere except the restricted list below and sanctioned jurisdictions. Perps are not for US persons.
Has a deposit ever been withheld?Across the reviews we read we found no dated, specific claim that Fomo took a deposit and refused to return it.

Who is behind the Fomo app?

FOMO Labs, Inc., a US company founded in 2025 by Paul Erlanger and Se Yong Park. Investors include Benchmark (17 million USD Series A, November 2025) and Index Ventures (75 million USD Series B, June 2026), about 94 million USD in total.

These are named investors with public track records, which matters for a scam check: a company that has taken money from Benchmark and Index has been through legal and financial diligence, has a board, and has something to lose. Fomo reports over 600,000 users and 4 billion USD in cumulative trading volume, reached the top five finance apps on the US App Store in August 2026, and drew about 2.0 million web visits in July 2026 by Similarweb's estimate, 51% from the United States.

Does Fomo hold your money?

Third-party reviews report self-custodial smart accounts: email or Apple sign-in, no seed phrase, and a company that states it cannot move funds for you. We have not verified this independently. If true, recovery depends on your login rather than a phrase you hold.

Apple Pay funding is confirmed by an in-app banner captured 4 September 2026. Everything else in this paragraph is third-party reported and not verified by us: that fiat deposits run through a regulated payment partner, which would explain identity checks appearing at deposit or withdrawal although sign-up needs none; that withdrawals go to any wallet address in USDC or SOL; and that bank withdrawals are available to US accounts only.

What do real users complain about?

Seven recurring complaints, each with a dated public source: slow mobile execution, sells failing, an app freeze that hid positions, ID verification blocking withdrawals, the minimum fee on small trades, an inaccurate balance chart, and canned support replies. None alleges stolen deposits.
ComplaintWhere, whenOur read
Slow execution on mobile during volatile movesGoogle Play, 24 Aug 2026Credible; no slippage control makes it costly
Sell orders failingTrustpilot, Apr 2026Typical of thin memecoin liquidity, but Fomo gives no failure reason
App froze and positions disappeared from viewApp Store, Jul 2026Display bug reported; funds on chain were not reported lost
ID verification demanded before withdrawalGoogle Play, 19 Aug 2026Payment partner compliance; plan for it if you deposit by card
Minimum fee about 0.95 USD hurts small tradesMultiple reviews, 2026Confirmed in quote screen; 50 USD trade pays about 1.9%
Balance chart inaccurateApp reviews, 2026Cosmetic but undermines trust
Canned support responsesApp reviews, 2026Common at this growth stage; no phone or live chat

What is missing from the complaint record is as important as what is in it. Across the reviews we read, we found no dated, specific claim that Fomo took a deposit and refused to return it, and no claim of unauthorised trades. That is consistent with a self-custodial model.

Where is the real scam risk on Fomo?

Three places: tokens (rug pulls, honeypots, including some that carried the verified badge), traders (leaderboard PnL is mark-to-market and can be inflated by illiquid bags), and fake referral or airdrop sites impersonating Fomo. The app itself is not the scam vector.

1. Are verified tokens on Fomo safe?

The verified badge on Fomo is informational. It does not mean the team audited the contract or the liquidity, and scam tokens have carried it. Treat it as a label, not a vetting.

2. Can leaderboard traders mislead you?

PnL on the leaderboard is calculated mark-to-market. A trader holding a token that spiked on almost no volume shows a large unrealised gain that would collapse if they tried to sell. Followers buying on that signal can become the exit liquidity. Copy trading on Fomo is manual, so you confirm each trade, which gives you a moment to check. Use it: check whether the displayed gains are concentrated in one token, and whether that token has enough pool depth to absorb a sale at that size.

3. How do you spot fake Fomo sites, and what is the real feerebate link?

Fomo has announced no token and no airdrop. Any site offering a "Fomo airdrop", asking you to connect a wallet to "claim", or selling "lifetime" referral discounts is not Fomo. The referral screen we captured on 4 September 2026 appears during signup and reads "Get a 10% discount on trading fees for a limited time", so nobody can honestly promise you a permanent discount. Ours is fomo.family/r/feerebate (referral link, 10% off eligible fees).

Where is Fomo strong on safety, and where does it lose?

Strong: identifiable company, institutional investors, self-custody, official app stores, clear restricted-country list. Loses: no order controls to limit losses, badge and leaderboard that can mislead, ID friction at withdrawal, and support that cannot help fast when a trade fails.

Where is Fomo strong on safety?

  • Named US company with Benchmark and Index Ventures on the cap table.
  • Self-custodial smart accounts per third-party reviews, not verified by us; no reported cases of withheld deposits in what we read.
  • Native apps in both official stores, 600,000+ users, public volume figures.
  • Restricted jurisdictions listed in the Terms rather than hidden.
  • No token, so no token-price incentive to mislead users.

Where does Fomo lose on safety?

  • No stop loss, limit orders or slippage control on spot; losses cannot be capped in-app.
  • Verified badge does not vet tokens; scam tokens have carried it.
  • Leaderboard PnL is mark-to-market and can be inflated.
  • ID checks can appear at withdrawal after a card deposit.
  • Support is slow and canned when execution fails.
  • Account recovery is reported to depend on your email or Apple login rather than a phrase you hold; third party only, not verified by us.

Which countries are restricted?

Iran, Yemen, Myanmar, North Korea, DR Congo, Libya, Sudan, Cuba, Venezuela, Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk, plus any country under US, UK or EU sanctions or that bans crypto. Perpetuals are not offered to US persons. Robinhood stock tokens are blocked in the US, Canada, UK and Switzerland.

Source: fomo.family/terms, read 4 September 2026. Fomo does not publish a positive list of supported countries.

Risk note: a legitimate company does not make the assets safe. Memecoins can go to zero in minutes, liquidity can vanish, leveraged perps can be liquidated by a 2% move at 50x, and the people you copy may be selling into you. Only trade money you can afford to lose entirely. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
