Methodology: how we check, date and label every claim
Every factual claim on this site sits in one of four labelled buckets. If a claim cannot be placed in a bucket, it does not get published. This page is the rule the rest of the site is measured against.
Why this page exists
This site once published a claim that read as established fact and was not. Money moved on the strength of it. The rules below are the response. They are deliberately restrictive: a review site that cannot say where a number came from is worth nothing, and being vague costs readers more than being incomplete.
The four evidence buckets
Primary and Fomo's own, We measured it, Third party only, and Not verified. Anything on the site should be traceable to one of them from the surrounding words alone, without a reader having to guess.

The four buckets are not a ranking of importance. A third-party report can be more useful to a reader than a primary quote. They are a ranking of how much confidence the wording is allowed to carry.
How figures are checked and dated
Every number carries a check date. Nothing is published from memory. When a figure changes, the figure and its date both move, and the change goes on the corrections page if the old figure was wrong rather than merely stale.
- Copy from the source, never retype from memory. Percentages, entity names, screen wording and dates are copied from the artefact in front of us.
- Every page carries a "Last updated" or "Last verified" date at the top, and it moves only when something on the page was actually re-checked.
- Stale is not the same as wrong. A figure that was right on its check date and has since changed gets a new date. A figure that was never right gets a dated entry on the corrections page.
- Third-party figures are re-checked at source. If a review site quotes a fee, we look for where the fee is actually shown before repeating it, and if we cannot get there, the figure stays in bucket 3 or 4.
- Screenshots are dated, not undated. An in-app screen is evidence of what the app displayed on one day to one account, and we say so rather than implying it is a permanent property of the product.
What this site refuses to claim, and why
Five things. In each case a confident answer is available from other sites, and in each case we could not get to evidence that supports it. We would rather look thin than be wrong about these.

Scoring and versioning of data we publish
Ratings are opinion built on the labelled facts above, and we say what they are built from. Any dataset or tool output we publish carries a version and a generation date so an old copy can be told apart from a current one.
Where we give a rating out of five, it is a judgement, not a measurement, and the page that carries it lists the factors behind it. A rating never moves because of affiliate revenue; see the editorial policy.
Any figure produced by our own tooling, including the trader checks, is published with the date it was generated and the input it was generated from. Where a tool reads a public API, the page says which API and when. If we change how a score is calculated, the change is noted with a date rather than applied silently to old numbers.
If we get something wrong
Write to hello@fomofamilycode.com. We publish a dated note describing what was wrong and what it says now, on the corrections page. We do not quietly edit a claim out of existence.
